Description: Mangrove snappers are generally brown in color with red brick-colored overtones. Unlike many snapper species, the Mangrove snapper lacks the predominant dark lateral spot. Their most noticeable feature is their prominent front canine teeth.

Size: On the smaller side of the snapper size scale, Mangrove snapper usually weigh in between 1 and 8 pounds, but catches of fish weighing over 10 pounds have been reported in Florida.

Location: They are found throughout the Gulf of Mexico commonly mixing with other snapper species with younger fish inshore and larger adults offshore.
